The West should intensify sanctions against Iran, according to
French President Emmanuel Macron, and target government
figures who take part in the brutal suppression of Iranian
protestors calling for equal rights for women.
Since late September, Iranian women and some men have been protesting the
government's stringent censorship of their everyday lives in response to the
murder of Mahsa Amini, 22, who was detained for allegedly breaking the Islamic
Republic's strict dress code and later died as a result.
